Join Career Center staff as we take you to visit the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. From space exploration and cybersecurity to air and missile defense, artificial intelligence and more, APL’s work is at the cutting edge of scientific innovation!

Come and learn about the exciting opportunities at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) for both technical internship and full-time positions in the areas of engineering, computer science physics, and math. 


REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Monday, April 17 or sooner, first 22 students to register on Handshake will attend.

AGENDA:

8:30 A.M. - Depart UMBC
9:00 - 9:15 A.M. – Arrival/Badging
9:15 - 9:30 A.M. – Enjoy refreshments and donuts!
9:30 - 10:30 A.M. – Q&A Discussion with APL staff/UMBC alumni
10:30 - 12:00 P.M. – LIVE Lab Tour
12:00 P.M. - Departure back to UMBC campus

ATTIRE: Business casual

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:
Proof of U.S. Citizenship in the form of a photo ID is required.  Passport or Driver's License are acceptable.

EVENT DESCRIPTIONS:
Q&A Discussion
Students will have the opportunity to engage in a live Q&A discussion with UMBC alumni that are now APL staff members. Come hear about their experience as an intern and full time staff member at the lab!

LIVE LAB
The LIVE Lab allows researchers to visualize data on information networks and use automated pattern recognition to discover anomalies that indicate cyberattacks. LIVE Lab features a suite of tools to help cyber operators detect, understand, and respond to cyberattacks across many platforms and applications.

NOTE: Internship positions require a minimum 3.0 GPA and U.S. citizenship .  Most positions will require the ability to obtain a security clearance

TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation is provided, but an RSVP is required. You will receive confirmation of your registration prior to the trip date. Space is limited, so register early! 

IMPORTANT: This event is free.  However, if you do not attend and have not cancelled your reservation one week prior to the event date, your student account will be charged $25 to cover expenses incurred by the Career Center.
