EVENT DESCRIPTIONS:
Meteorite Lab
A lot of APL is focused on things really new – innovative, cutting-edge technologies – but there’s one lab that deals with things that are really old, like 4.5 billion years old. The Meteorite Lab has supported a wide range of NASA-related projects, such as studies of extraterrestrial samples including meteorites and samples from the Moon, projects for spacecraft instrument development, and experimental investigations of the formation and evolution of planetary bodies.
LabSPEC
The Laboratory for Spectroscopy under Planetary Environmental Conditions (LabSPEC) hosts ultraviolet, visible and near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy experiments in its vacuum environmental test chambers.
LIVE LAB
The LIVE Lab allows researchers to visualize data on information
networks and use automated pattern recognition to discover anomalies
that indicate cyberattacks. LIVE Lab features a suite of tools to help
cyber operators detect, understand, and respond to cyberattacks
across many platforms and applications.
REQUIREMENTS: Internship positions require a minimum 3.0 GPA. Majority of positions will require the ability to obtain a security clearance. To access APL’s facilities and networks, US Citizenship is required, subject to applicable laws.Visitors must present photo identification to the lobby receptionists, sign the visitor register, receive the appropriate badge, and remain under escort unless otherwise authorized by Visitor Control.
Please note: UMBC is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive environment for all faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
