The building contains more than 75 laboratories dedicated to organic and inorganic chemistry, biology, microbiology and other scientific activities.
Students will visit the Environmental Science Center (ESC) at Fort Meade. Learn about and tour the Region 3 and OPP laboratory programs at ESC. You will see different laboratory spaces (microbiology, inorganic, and organic labs), different types of instrumentation, and some of the different projects that have been and are being worked on at the facility.
Region 3's Laboratory and Technical Services Branch (LTSB) provides lab and technical services for Region 3's air, water and waste programs. The lab is responsible for analytical services, site/project level data quality assurance, data management and integration; provides both routine and non-routine laboratory analysis; and plays a major role in quality assurance of all Regional data collection and analysis.
