If you love travel and adventure, you may be considering a far-away internship or job. Every semester, UMBC students pursue exciting career opportunities across the country and even across the globe. But how do you find these positions? How should you prepare, and what challenges might you face? Join the Career Center for a panel of students and local professionals who have been through the relocation process.

Panelists include:

  • Lee Van Iderstine, UMBC '07, Interdisciplinary Studies (Health and Social Sciences). Past employers include Violet Organization, the International Rescue Committee, and Africa 180. She completed her master's at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
  • Brian Hildebrandt, UMBC '04, Philosophy. Currently works at the Office of the Inspector General in the Dept. of Health & Human Services, and in the past has worked for Lockheed Martin and New Jersey Courts. Earned his J.D. at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
  • Hector Barrera, Current Student in Financial Economics. Completed a summer co-op in New York City with Nielsen.
  • Kevin Boenning, Current Student in Engineering. Completed a fall co-op in Louisville, Kentucky with General Electric.
