If you love travel and adventure, you may be considering a far-away internship or job. Every semester, UMBC students pursue exciting career opportunities across the country and even across the globe. But how do you find these positions? How should you prepare, and what challenges might you face? Join the Career Center for a panel of students and local professionals who have been through the relocation process.

PANELISTS INCLUDE:
Lydia Grmai, UMBC '11, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
Dr. Grmai is a Meyerhoff alumna and serves on the Meyerhoff alumni board.  While a student, she worked as a research assistant and sang with the Stilettos.  After graduating from UMBC, Lydia moved to New York to attend NYU's School of Medicine where she completed her PhD in Molecular Pharmacology.  In January, Dr. Grmai started her current position as a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University, Department of Biology in the Van Doren Lab.

Greg Foley, UMBC '08, Mechanical Engineering
After graduating UMBC, Greg was a Submarine Officer in the Navy serving in various locations including oversees.  Currently, he serves as a Systems Engineer at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.  Mr. Foley also completed his Master's Degree in Engineering Management at Old Dominion University.

Arielle-Cherie Paterson, Current Student in Computer Science.

Arielle-Cherie completed a summer research internship in Cambridge, Massachusetts at Harvard University studying Computer Vision in autonomous robots.

Kourtney Rutkowski, Current student in Mechanical Engineering.
Completed co-op experiences with GE Appliances, a Haier company located in Louisville, Kentucky along GE Power in Trevose, Pennsylvania.  Kourtney also interned with BGE and Exelon Nuclear Energy.
