UMBC On the Road: National Institutes of Health (NIH) Bethesda, MD.
Join Career Center staff as we take you out to visit NIH in Bethesda, MD. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives
Attend this event to learn about all of the NIH, including participation from NIMH (Mental Health), NIDCD (Deafness and Communications Disorders), NIDCR (Dental), NCI (Cancer), and the National Eye Institute (NEI). Hear from scientists about the research being conducted. Participants may select from one of two labs to tour. The visit will also include information about the Pathways applications process as well as internship and future career opportunities. To learn more about opportunities, visit here.

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
Due to security requirements, all undergraduate students must possess U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident. However, the NIH accepts postdocs (MS/PhDs) who are non-U.S. Citizens on a limited basis and, as such, are welcomed during this visit.

TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation is provided, but an RSVP is required via UMBCworks. You
will receive confirmation of your registration prior to the trip date. Space is
limited, so register early! You may register under the events tab in UMBCworks.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
If you do not attend and have not cancelled your reservation
one week prior to the event date, your student account will be charged $25 to
cover expenses incurred by the Career Center.
