The United States Capitol Police proudly protects the United States Congress and the most recognizable symbol of democracy in the world – The United States Capitol Building. The Capitol Hill complex is a destination for millions of visitors each year who travel to Washington, D.C. to witness and participate in the democratic process. Our mission is to protect the Congress – its Members, employees, visitors and facilities – so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure, and open environment.
