Join Career Center staff as we take you out to visit The Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET). Take a tour of the facility and hear about internship and future research opportunities.

The Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET) is a joint University System of Maryland research institute capitalizing on the strengths of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, the University of Maryland Baltimore County and the University of Maryland Baltimore. IMET utilizes the research, training and technology transfer capabilities of these partner institutes to further its mission. IMET's work includes the use of aquaculture and genomics to foster conservation and creation of marine resources, including marine bioenergy; environmental sensor development; environmental remediation; developmental biology; marine biomedicine; molecular and cellular systems and sustainable urban ports and ecosystems.

MAJORS:

·         Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and related fields

·       IMET has a particular focus on biotechnology and microbiology and on marine environments

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS:

·       IMET Summer Internship – paid research internship from June 1 to July 31. More details can be found at https://www.umces.edu/imet/summer-internship. Applications are due on March 9, 2020.


TRANSPORTATION & REGISTRATION:

Transportation is provided, but an RSVP is required. You will receive confirmation of your registration prior to the trip date. Space is limited, so register early! You may register under the events tab in UMBCworks: https://careers.umbc.edu/umbcworks/

If you do not attend and have not canceled your reservation one week prior to the event date (by 8am Friday, February 14th), your student account will be charged $25 to cover expenses incurred by the Career Center.
