In this session, UMBC students and alumni will share their experience at the National Security Agency while participating in the NSA’s full-time development and study. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear firsthand what a day in the life as a National Security Agency employee or intern is like.

Panelists include Maidson Nickey, '20 Visual Arts and Kimberly Shurupoff

Here are some questions to get you thinking about what this session may entail:

  • How would you describe the Internship you just had?
  • What are your main responsibilities?
  • What is a typical day (or week) like for you?
  • What do you like most/least about your work?
  • What kinds of problems do you deal with?
  • What kinds of decisions do you make?
  • How does your position fit within the organization/career field/industry?
  • What are some common career paths in this field?
  • What kinds of accomplishments tend to be valued and rewarded in this field?

NSA is committed to creating a workforce that has a diverse set of backgrounds, experiences and points of view. To provide and protect national security, we must capitalize on the rich diversity of knowledge, skills, abilities, backgrounds and perspectives of our workforce. National security and diversity go hand-in-hand as essential partners in the interest of global peace.
