Description

UMBC Alumni are returning to share their experiences and strategies for making the most of your time at UMBC.

Panelists include:

Aishwarya Iyer ‘18, MD. Ph.D. biochemistry and molecular biology

Aishwarya Iyer (pronouns: she/her/hers) is a 3rd year MD/PhD student at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, pursuing her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Born and raised in Maryland, she attended UMBC as a Meyerhoff Scholar and Division I athlete, and graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry in 2018. When she is not studying or conducting research, she enjoys exercising, cooking different vegetarian recipes (been vegetarian my whole life!), and singing.

Samantha Mertz ‘19, environmental science and geography

Samantha Mertz graduated UMBC in 2019 with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Geography. She is currently working as the Assistant Project Manager and Migratory Bird Specialist for the North East Region for Trileaf Corporation. They are an environmental consulting company that specializes in delivering large numbers of small environmental and due diligence projects across the county, such as NEPAs, Phase I and Phase II ESAs, and Migratory Bird Evaluations, to name a few. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, bird watching, and spending time with my 2 dogs and 4 cats.
