As the world around us grows more complex every day, it’s increasingly difficult to pay attention to what truly matters – at work and in our personal lives. If you aspire to be a transformative leader, cultivating mindfulness is an important step on that journey. In addition to helping leaders better navigate complex situations, mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress, improve focus and performance, increase collaboration, as well as self-awareness and empathy.
In this session we will:
- Demystify mindfulness
- Discuss the neuroscience and benefits of mindfulness practices
- Learn several exercises for enhancing mental focus, empathy, and resilience
- Create the initial conditions for improving emotional intelligence and well-being despite complex and demanding work environments.
We’ll also briefly touch on ways we can respond mindfully to the natural anxiety and fear that may arise due to the situation surrounding the corona virus. Accounting and MIS majors, of all years, are invited to join this event. RSVP by 5:00 pm on Monday, February 8th. A confirmation email with virtual platform information will be shared prior to the event.
This is an external event and not associated with UMBC.
