Tech Talk; Aptiv Overview: Who We Are and What We Do  (11:00 - 11:50)

Engineers share their knowledge about the latest projects they are working on. 

Speaker Jada Smith, senior program director, in Aptiv’s Advanced Safety & User Experience segment is responsible for executing critical programs for one of Aptiv’s largest customers, driving profitable growth while ensuring on time deliveries with world-class product and process quality. She is also passionate about gender diversity and is leading initiatives to further diversity in Aptiv’s engineering workforce. 

Previously, Mrs. Smith was global director of software platform, responsible for driving software excellence across Aptiv, ensuring product and process quality while maximizing software reuse. She began her automotive career in 2004 as a software engineer in Aptiv’s Advanced Safety & User Experience segment and, following several progressive engineering and leadership roles, was named to her current role. 

Previously named one of Automotive News “Rising Stars”, Mrs. Smith also led Aptiv’s Agile transformation, a journey focused on improving quality and efficiency. 

Mrs. Smith holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University.

Panelists Include:

Lisa Savage is the SOTIF (safety of the intended functionality) technical lead at Aptiv. She holds a Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering, a certificate in entrepreneurship, and a Master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan. Prior to arriving at Aptiv, Lisa spent some time in the space, defense, and engineering consulting industries. She has been with Aptiv for 3 years and is located at the Troy, MI campus. 

Priscilla Trujillo is the Global Product Line Manager and Business Planning Manager for Antaya Technologies, an Aptiv acquisition, located in Warwick, Rhode Island. Priscilla holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso. She joined Aptiv in 2011 and has held multiple engineering and business-related assignments in several product segments with a commitment to deliver results while acting as one team. 

Kathrine Zick, University Recruiter, Troy, MI, 10 months with Aptiv, Oakland University. 

Olisa Okolo is a student at UMBC pursuing a bachelor's degree in Information Systems and a minor in Entrepreneurship.  He is joining Aptiv this summer as an incoming Data science intern in Aptiv Connected Services.  

Gordon Patterson is the University Recruiting and Relations Manager at Aptiv. In this role, Gordon oversees the early career recruiting and internship programs. Before Aptiv, Gordon spent six years at Republic Services. Before departing, for three years he served as the Talent Acquisition Manager of Emerging Talent. His team of ten talent acquisition professionals supported IT, University Relations, Environmental Services, and Field Sales recruitment.
