Years in Student Affairs/UMBC
Almost three years with DoSA. (Six years in residential life at UMCP)
What is something you do as part of your position that people may not be aware of?
Since summer 2023 I’ve been practicing Spanish to build relationships and better communicate with our campus partners who speak Spanish as their first language. I’ve loved getting to know even more people at work!
What is one of the most important things you’ve learned during your time here?
UMBC is the most diverse community I’ve ever been part of, it’s great! There’s a home for everyone on our campus, we have so many groups and organizations for interests of all kinds, and people come from all over the world right here to the 21250 to form the Retriever Nation.
What do you like to do for fun and/or is something you are passionate about outside of work?
In October I completed my first marathon! I started running at the beginning of the pandemic just for something to do outside my apartment, and 4.5 years later, I crossed the finish line after 26.2 miles on the streets of Baltimore. It’s the second-most proud I’ve ever been–after the day I earned my college degree.
