The UMBC Dean of Students office supports student success and well-being.

Primary functions include:

  • Student assistance: Advocate student concerns and needs, ensuring their voices are heard in institutional decision-making processes.
  • Student support services: Individual coaching, connection to resources, and student empowerment
  • Student conduct and accountability: Creating an environment that supports learning and promoting a culture of safety and respect.
  • Crisis management: Responding to and managing student crises, including mental health issues, emergencies, student rallies, and other critical incidents.

The Dean of Students (DOS) Office is dedicated to fostering the success and well-being of all Retrievers by providing comprehensive support throughout your academic journey. Whether you need help identifying the right resources, navigating the complexities of campus policies, or connecting with various university programs and departments, the DOS Office is here to guide you every step of the way. Our commitment is to ensure that every student has access to the tools and support they need to thrive within our university community.

In addition, the DOS Office coordinates with Retriever Support Services focused on basic needs, off-campus housing, and emotional support.
