How to refer someone when you’re concerned about their well-being.

If you observe a person whose behavior is potentially dangerous (e.g. making verbal or physical threats to others; threatening suicide and resisting help), or if you think you might hurt yourself or others, call UMBC Campus Police at 410-455-5555 or call 911 if off-campus.

If you’re worried about someone or need help yourself, fill out a Retriever CARE Online Referral Form. For urgent situations, call UMBC Campus Police at 410-455-5555.

If you need help or want to learn more about how to help others, UMBC offers counseling, consultations, training, and other resources across campus to support you. Many of these events and programs are regularly promoted on myUMBC throughout the year.

If you have questions or want to consult with Retriever CARE (formerly known as BRACT) staff, contact Retriever Support Services: 410-455-2770.
